Portrait of a Doggy

April 20, 2012 | Posted in

If “sit” and “stay” aren’t part of your dog’s vocabulary, then odds are that an oil portrait painted in the style of old masters probably just isn’t in the cards. Heck, that might even rule out a great photo. Luckily, that leaves the jaunty pen and ink portraits of Studio Legohead. All it takes is $140 (plus s&h) a few snapshots of your pup and a bit of insight into his/her character – et voila! A vibrant, charming keepsake to tack over the mantle in lieu of a pompous rendering in oil.

Bonus: If you’d like your dog’s likeness to be sporting a top hat, jewelry, cowboy boots, or any other  fashionable accoutrements – no problemo. Try getting your dog to cooperate with that in real life!

Furrr Sure!

February 16, 2012 | Posted in

If your pup has a DJ gig coming up, or just enjoys graphic new-wave style prints, you might want to have a look at the gear over at Fifi Runn. Our favorite is the “Electric 80′s” – a  heavy-duty, machine washable riff on the decade of neon and Valley Girls. Perhaps in homage to the trickle-down economics of that era, each month 10% of merch sales are donated to a worthy pet-centric cause.

Wake me up, before you go-go . . . for a walk!

Where, Oh Where, Has My Little Dog Gone?

February 14, 2012 | Posted in

Save yourself (and your best friend) the anguish of being unintentionally separated with the nifty Blanket pet I.D. service. Simply purchase one of Blanket’s uber-cute tags & when it arrives, use their website to register your pet and upload a few adorable mug shots. If your little buddy ever wanders off, just  run – sobbing – to Blanket’s website & report your pet M.I.A. Blanket will instantly broadcast emails on your behalf to your local SPCA, animal hospitals, shelters, and other blanketID members in your area. Said email will link to your online information enabling 24/7 access to a full description + photos to help identify your lost pet. If a kindly stranger stumbles upon your wayward buddy, he or she can use the unique number on the tag to access all they need to reach you. Best of all – For every blanketID tag registered and every membership purchased, a portion of proceeds go towards the Blanket Fund for Animals to improve the lives of pets not as lucky as yours.

February is Responsible Pet Ownership Month and safety is always in style!

Wild in Captivity

June 30, 2011 | Posted in

Animal print will forever be considered a neutral (and a staple) in my wardrobe, so when I saw the Leopard Collection from Around the Collar, I was pretty effin’ excited. If you’ve ever tried to find a worthy animal print collar for your pup, you know there are way too many cheesy options out there. Save for Blueblood’s ostrich collar/lead combo, I’ve yet to find one that’s up to my standards, and let’s be serious…ostrich is no sub for a good leopard.

The collar is made of pony hair, not a printed nylon, and there is a D-ring in the center to attach the leash, so the buckle & tags stay on the underside. The leash we got to match has a swivel; with dark brown leather on the top half for better wear/handling and the matching natural pony hair on the bottom half. Fancy-pants!

Around the Collar has over 30 years of experience in the leather accessories business, and they create everything in their New York studio to ensure quality & style. Check out the Leopard Collection here, and they have several other glam options on their website too. Rrarr!

Wear Your PuppySnobbery on Your Bag!

March 16, 2011 | Posted in

We were introduced to FouFou Dog, a Canadian canine apparel company, through twitter & had fun browsing through all the collections on their website. Because Tallulah isn’t really a dress-up kinda gal (although we go all-out for Halloween), I immediately gravitated toward their line of adorable luggage tags. FouFou has 33 dog breeds available (plus a few cats + a pony!) & really seems to capture the spirit of each one in a tag you can use on luggage, or as suggested on their site & how we’ll use ours, on a gym bag. What better way to strike up a conversation with a fellow dog-loving stranger?

We only have one problem- which one does Tallulah look more like?! She’s a purebred Frenchie, but I’m completely split between the docile looking French Bulldog & the quirky Boston Terrier who looks as if it’s got something up its sleeve ;)

Mo’ Laughs in Support of Movember

November 15, 2010 | Posted in

Now that we’ve hit the half-way mark of November, I’m sure you’ve noticed more than a few guys sporting a ‘stache. They might just be inspired by the retro look, but more than likely it’s because every November since 2003 has taken on “The Mo” to become “Movember”, an awareness & fundraising campaign that challenges men to grow a moustache to inspire conversations around men’s health. What started off as a bit of a joke has evolved into a serious campaign that raised upwards of $42 million last year.

Have a laugh & support men’s health with this hilarious Humungastache dog-toy which is a ball on one end, and a giant cartoon moustache on the other. So suave!!
