I Can Has Cleanz?

May 22, 2012 | Posted in

With Memorial Day Weekend coming in hot, we’re probably not the only ones taking the stairs vs the elevator, upping ab reps, and considering a detox or cleanse ;) Well why not let your pup in on that action? Of course we’d never suggest replacing nutritionally balanced dog food with lemon juice and cayenne pepper – we’re strictly talking homeopathic supplements here. After years of exposure to carpet treatments, yard sprays, air fresheners, preservatives in foods & dog knows what else, toxins can build up in your pet’s system, decreasing liver and kidney functions and just generally making your pet feel “blah.” Just a few drops of HomeoPet Cleanz in the dog dish for 21 days of doggy detox, and your pal will be feeling like a puppy again. If only it were that simple for us humans.

High Five For Pretty Paws

December 20, 2011 | Posted in

Cold winter walks in the city leave little frenchie paws in need of TLC. Thankfully, we swooped up FuzzYard NaturalsShea Butter + Avocado Oil Paw Balm at Trixie + Peanut when we were in NYC, because it is just the trick to soothe and condition dry / cracked paws. The company is known for their premium pet products held to the highest of human standards, and this paw balm, formulated with organic extracts and no synthetic additives is no exception. It’s not greasy, but just in case, I did blot Tallulah’s paws with a tissue after massaging it into them to avoid any transfer. Best of all…the balm is safe for your pup to lick, because you know they will!

Eliminate the ‘Splish-Splash’ from Bath Time

May 9, 2011 | Posted in

Tallulah always steps off the curb to go to the bathroom in the gutter, which is awesome at avoiding awkward situations with downhill pee run-off I remember so fondly when she was a puppy, BUT she somehow manages to get exhaust on her white fur at least once a week from inadvertently rubbing against parked cars’ exhaust pipes. Earthbath Waterless Green Tea Leaf Grooming Foam has been a savior for these in-between grooming + bath situations. It rubs on, towels off, smells fantastic, and has no parabens, phosphates, DEA, synthetic dyes or perfumes. They also have companion Green Tea grooming wipes that I use for a quick paw wipe-down after a long walk, before I’ll let her anywhere near my bed or couch.

Traditional bath time is definitely an undertaking & taking her to the groomer on a regular basis can get really expensive, so this is the perfect alternative. Clean dog = happy dog & happier owner.

This Little Piggy…Ate Like a Lady

August 20, 2010 | Posted in

Sometimes I wonder if I have a French Bulldog or a pet piglet. Aside from all the snorting & snoring that “smoosh face” breeds are known for, they often tend to inhale their food like little pigs, sucking in a substantial amount of air in the process.  This brings on another unwelcome emissision- gas, and can also have more rare, but serious effects including severe shock & even death. I’ve tried picking up the bowl mid-chow at feeding time, but was intrigued to see these patented BRAKE-FAST bowls with simple obstructions forcing your puppy to slow down food and air intake.

No, they aren’t ultra glam, but I’ll take a healthy non-bloated dog over aesthetics any day. I ordered the metal one, but the bright red plastic version is puppysnob’s 2nd pick.

Shake it Like a Polaroid Picture

August 17, 2010 | Posted in

In honor of the fact that I would be, could be, should be at the Monster Ball right now, I just had to share this quirky combination I recently came across: One part pop-culture icon (Gaga), one part uber cute canine (Pancake the Boston Terrier et al), and one part instant film (Polaroid).

Local Bay Area photog, Jesse Freidin, went for the trifecta with his Doggie Gaga Project, a series of Polaroid photographs featuring dogs dressed in variances of the outrageous outfits made famous by Lady Gaga, that has become an internet phenomenon. With street cred like ‘2010 Best Dog Photographer in the San Francisco Bay Area’ & the Doggie Gaga Project having been featured on MTV, Entertainment Weekly, Modern Dog Magazine, and Live! with Regis and Kelly, just to name a few, it’s not hard to imagine Jesse breaking out into song, “Sorry I cannot hear you, I’m kinda busy”. I adore this creative concept & know Tallulah would love to play dress-up for a future Doggie Gaga shoot with Pancake! Buy prints here.

The Skinny on Preparedness

August 14, 2010 | Posted in

With Miss Tallulah’s proclivity for mischief, this Skinny Mayday Kit is an absolute necessity for my peace of mind. Weighing just 7 ounces & measuring 5ish x 5ish inches, it’s packed full of all the essentials in case of an emergency on outdoor adventures with your pup (though hopefully you will never need to utilize). Extra snob points for the rugged-chic olive material & the bone shaped karabiner.

After all darling, luck favors the prepared.
