Why do dogs hate letter carriers? Well, maybe it’s because no one ever sends them anything. Broker a peace accord between your best friend & the human they most despise by thoughtfully gifting your dog with a Barkbox subscription. Each month, your pet will receive a special delivery, chock full of treats and toys! Best of all, 10% of proceeds are donated to a local shelter or rescue in your area. Oh, your dog will still bark when the mail comes – it’ll just be for a totally different reason.

Most dogs will tell you (to the dismay of their owners) that dismantling a toy, removing the stuffing then choking on the squeaker hidden within is pretty much the best thing ever. The party quickly comes to an end however, when the owner grumpily vacuums up all the white fluff and tosses whats left of the toy in the trash. But what if toys were created for the sole purpose of being ripped apart? What if, after they were gutted, another toy was discovered within – along with a delicious dog treat?! Like a Russian nesting doll of doggie bliss, Biters is the destructible toy for dogs, created by Meriav Barzilay, to “indulge their obsession for taking things apart and discovering what’s inside them.” Each doll is stuffed using large fabric pieces to prevent choking and contains a treat, and a squeaky toy. Win, win!

First official day of summer & SF is sporting temperatures to welcome it with open arms (and bikinis on). An afternoon spent multitasking in said bikini, sprawled out working on my laptop at Huntington Square is enough to make me one very happy girl. An overheated/dehydrated dog is the last thing I need spoiling my Vitamin D sesh, so I made sure to bring the new all-in-one water bottle/bowl I picked up last week at Plaza de Paws in Burlingame. Gulpy is perfect to take on walks, hikes, to the park, wherever! I didn’t worry the least bit about tossing it in my tote bag next to my brand new macbook pro, and it’s so simple to use: tray flips out, squeeze the bottle, and your pup can drink out of it like a trough. I have the smaller 10 oz size, but they come in 20 oz, great for longer hikes/bigger dogs too. Available at many pet boutiques as well as REI or online at Amazon.

PuppySnob + The Modern Canine have partnered up for a special Earth Day giveaway! We love owner/designer Tiffany’s vision for a zero-waste company; she collects remnants from high-end fashion houses, uses them to construct dog clothes, and then makes toys with the remnants of the that production. Tres fab AND green!
One lucky winner will receive an organic cotton drawstring bag with a customized label with your dog’s name, 3 squeaker mice toys and 1 organic cotton bandana. You can enter the contest by clicking here, or on twitter or facebook & you do get an extra entry for every person who signs up through you sharing it. Green means..GO, good luck!

To celebrate the commencement of baseball season in the city, which is even more contagious this year as defending champs (Go Giants!), this nostalgic + photorealistic canvas toy made its way home with us this weekend.
A delightful new offering from o.r.e Pet ™, a pioneer in the pet industry for their use of recycled materials and eco-friendly products, the canvas baseball chew toy features recycled cotton stuffing without the usual obnoxious squeaker inside. Definitely sounds like a home run to us!!
(We picked ours up at CheekoB, but also found them on Amazon for those not in SF)

Now that we’ve hit the half-way mark of November, I’m sure you’ve noticed more than a few guys sporting a ‘stache. They might just be inspired by the retro look, but more than likely it’s because every November since 2003 has taken on “The Mo” to become “Movember”, an awareness & fundraising campaign that challenges men to grow a moustache to inspire conversations around men’s health. What started off as a bit of a joke has evolved into a serious campaign that raised upwards of $42 million last year.
Have a laugh & support men’s health with this hilarious Humungastache dog-toy which is a ball on one end, and a giant cartoon moustache on the other. So suave!!
